Staying Vigilant This Hurricane Season
This past Wednesday marked the beginning of the 2022 hurricane season, and it is critical that all South Louisiana residents stay vigilant throughout the coming months and prepare well ahead of time before powerful storms threaten our state.
We saw just last year how vital it is to have a game plan and take necessary steps that can make a huge difference when faced with disaster. Hurricane Ida was one of the most powerful storms to ever strike South Louisiana, and our communities are still reeling from its devastating effects more than nine months later.
Be sure you have an evacuation plan in place in the event that an evacuation order is issued for your area. Stock your household with water, non-perishable food items, first aid kits, flashlights, and other emergency supplies. It is also imperative to reinforce vulnerable parts of your home as much as possible, and check in on your neighbors before the storm arrives. Always monitor local media outlets and heed advice from local officials for storm updates.
Together, we can get through this hurricane season. For additional tips, please visit the hurricane preparedness page on my website here.
Touring Textron's Southeast Louisiana Shipyard
I recently visited Textron's shipyard in Southeast Louisiana to tour and discuss the Ship-to-Shore Connectors (SSCs) being built for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. SSCs are built to transport cargo and military assets from ship to shore. I was impressed with Textron's SSC production for our nation's military, and I’m proud to have them built in South Louisiana.
Meeting With Louisiana Veterans
I had a great visit with veterans from the Slidell-based Miltary-Veterans Advocacy, Inc. in my Washington, D.C. office. Our nation’s veterans have earned the gratitude of every American for the sacrifices they have made and the freedoms they have defended on our behalf.
It is an honor to represent you in Congress. For more information, please visit my website, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook pages.
