John,

On 5 April we launched our campaign to get more Greens elected to local government.

Two months later, we have 551 councillors on 168 councils across England and Wales, an increase of more than a fifth.

We are in control or part of the ruling administration of 19 councils – and counting - and are the official opposition and in a position to significantly influence a further 16.

This is what our democracy should look like – diverse, collaborative, accountable.

Clockwise from top left: Cllrs Matt Edwards and Celia Hickson (Bradford), Rosie Rawle and Lucy Pegg, (Oxford), Angela Argenzio and Maleiki Haybe (Sheffield), Ria Patel and Esther Sutton (Croydon), Caroline Russell, Benali Hamdache, and Ernestas Armstong-Jegorovas (Islington), Astrid Johnson and Rob Nunney (Manchester).

Over the following months, Green councillors like these will be working hard to build fairer, greener communities from the bottom up.

Help them put nature and communities at the heart of politics by donating whatever you can afford now to our campaign.

Thanks for your support.
