In the wake of multiple tragedies, the fight to end gun violence has never been more urgent. Which is why today on National Gun Violence Awareness Day, I wear orange in solidarity with survivors and families of victims of the senseless epidemic taking our country by storm.
These acts of violence are preventable and is why I’m more committed than ever to enact smarter gun control – Americans deserve better.
Gun safety laws don’t infringe on the rights of law-abiding folks, but they do help reduce gun violence. I, like most Americans and gun owners, believe in common sense safety rules that keep guns away from dangerous people, like violent history checks, safe storage, and red flag laws.
Unlike my opponent, I’ll never take a cent from the NRA or the gun lobby, much less
$166,116. That’s why I was awarded the Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate distinction. I plan to bring back integrity and common sense to Congress and will accept nothing less than long-lasting gun safety reforms.
