Today is National Gun Violence Awareness Day, which kicks off Wear Orange weekend. From June 3rd to June 5th, Americans across the country will be wearing orange to honor the countless lives lost to gun violence – and to commit ourselves to fighting for a future free from gun violence.
Last week, we witnessed the heartbreaking shooting in Uvalde that left 19 elementary schoolers and 2 teachers dead. And just this week, 4 people were killed in a shooting at a Tulsa hospital.
Unless we act now, these senseless acts of violence will continue to rip our communities – and our nation – apart. Now more than ever, Congress must find the courage to act. We can’t let the gun lobby or gutless Republicans stand in our way. Not when the lives of our children are at stake.
So if you’re with me, will you sign my petition demanding the Senate pass legislation to address the gun violence epidemic? The time is now – let’s finally take action to protect our communities.
I’m proud to be a Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate. I will always vote to protect our families from gun violence – whether it be by passing stricter background checks or banning bump stocks, high-capacity magazines, ghost guns, and weapons of war that have no place in our communities.
Thank you for being in this fight with me,
Scott
