Huge news, John: The NRSC was just caught lying about my record on the air, and in response, TV stations across North Carolina pulled down their attack ad against me.
This is extremely rare in campaigns, but it speaks to how dirty the NRSC is going to play to try to win this seat. So we must continue to fight back.
We said from the start that these attacks were false and that we would not stand down and allow them to lie about me or my record of upholding our Constitution and keeping North Carolinians safe.
Fortunately, in this case, the TV stations agreed and pulled the ad for having “false statement and language about North Carolina Democratic candidate Cheri Beasley.”
We are the only Senate challenger they are attacking, and they’ve already crossed the line with these false attacks about my record.
Truthfully, this will not stop the NRSC. Another misleading attack ad is undoubtedly in the works — with a real chance they try to attack me even harder.
But let me be clear: We are going to fight harder than you’ve ever seen from a Senate campaign in North Carolina. I’ve never backed down just because the challenges are steep or hard.
We’re going to need you to have our back every step of the way. So I urgently need to ask for your help to make sure we’re ready to fight against whatever Republicans throw at us next.
We have Republicans scared. That’s why they’re coming at us so hard and so early. Their super PACs are willing to say WHATEVER it takes to try to defeat us.
