1. Pride & Primaries: States to Watch on June 7

This year, there are a record number of LGBTQ candidates running for office in California! Check out our article in LGBTQ Nation about Game Changer candidates on the California ballot: Ricardo Lara running for reelection as California Insurance Commissioner, Robert Garcia and Will Rollins running for the U.S. House, Ron Galperin running for California State Controller and Mark Takano running for reelection to the U.S. House.

California’s primary is next Tuesday, June 7. Victory Fund-endorsed candidates will also be on the ballot in Iowa, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico and South Dakota!

2. New Poll: Jasmine Beach-Ferrara Gains Momentum in North Carolina

Game Changer candidate Jasmine Beach-Ferrara, who would be the only out LGBTQ person elected to a federal office from North Carolina, pulled ahead of her opponent in a new poll after winning the Democratic primary two weeks ago. Republican nominee Sen. Chuck Edwards – who defeated firebrand Madison Cawthorn - received a 36% favorability rating and a 40% unfavorable rating compared to Jasmine’s 38% favorability rating and just a 20% unfavorable rating. 3. ICYMI: Jamie McLeod-Skinner Wins Primary Election in Oregon

Late last week, Game Changer candidate Jamie McLeod-Skinner won the Democratic primary for Oregon’s 5th Congressional District. With this victory, she is now on track to become the first out LGBTQ person ever elected to Congress from Oregon. Click here to read our full press release!

Izzy Smith Wade-El, who is running for the Pennsylvania state House and just won their primary election two weeks ago, made the cover of City & State’s Pride Edition! Izzy, along with LGBTQ leaders Malcolm Kenyatta, Jessica Benham, Brian Sims, Sean Meloy and Deja Alvarez, were all named to the paper’s Pride Power 100 list, which recognizes Pennsylvanians who are increasing equity and opportunity in the state.
