Kirk Cameron Ignores His Critics – and We Should, Too

By: Paul Batura

Christian evangelist and ‘80s heartthrob actor Kirk Cameron was trending on Twitter on Tuesday, as critics pounced on comments he made ahead of the release of his new movie, The Homeschool Awakening.

“The problem is that public school systems have become so bad. It’s sad to say they’re doing more for grooming, for sexual chaos and the progressive left than any real educating about the things that most of us want to teach our kids,” he said in a recent interview.

Cameron called out “those who are rotting out the minds and souls of America’s children” and suggested they were “spreading a terminal disease, not education.”

Together ’22 – Cotton Bowl Stadium Event Features Christian Speakers and Artists

By: Jeff Johnston

In June 1972, Campus Crusade for Christ sponsored Explo ’72, a music, evangelism and training event featuring the Rev. Billy Graham and Dr. Bill Bright. They brought together artists like Love Song, Andrae Crouch and the Disciples, Larry Norman, Children of the Day, Johnny and June Carter Cash and Kris Kristofferson.

Around 80,000 college and high school students came together at the Cotton Bowl stadium in Dallas, Texas. After training in evangelism, the students scattered across the city to spread the good news, before heading back home to share their faith in cities across the country.

Together ’22 is taking place this June 24-25, to mark the 50th anniversary of the event and to “empower the next generation of Christians to ‘Make Jesus Known.’”

Evangelist Nick Hall is spearheading the free stadium event. The founder and president of Pulse Ministry, he has a desire to lead people to Christ and equip others to do so. He’s bringing together speakers, teachers and Christian music artists for the weekend of worship, evangelism, prayer and training.

For Hall, there’s a personal connection with Explo ’72. He told The Daily Citizen that students from North Dakota traveled to Dallas and heard the gospel, then they took it back to their state to share with others.

Collusion in Michigan Nullifies State’s Pre-Roe Abortion Ban

By: Bruce Hausknecht

Something smells fishy in Michigan, and it isn’t the yellow perch or walleye the Great Lakes State is known for.

From 1931 until 1973, a Michigan statute prohibited abortion except to preserve the life of the mother. Roe v. Wade, decided in 1973, rendered the law unenforceable, but it remained on the books.

Fast forward to 2022, and it appears there is a strong likelihood that the U.S. Supreme Court will soon overturn Roe in the Dobbs decision expected in the next few weeks, returning the issue of abortion back to the states.

So, what would that mean for Michigan?

The Michigan legislature is Republican-controlled and presumptively pro-life. It may leave the 1931 statute as is, or it could enact any number of abortion laws, depending on the will of the people they represent, including such things as heartbeat laws, 15-week bans, or something different. In doing so, it may repeal the 1931 law and replace it with something else.

That’s how the democratic process works.

One way the democratic process doesn’t work, however, is what occurred recently regarding the 1931 law. Planned Parenthood of Michigan filed a lawsuit against the state to strike down the pre-Roe law, undoubtedly in anticipation of the Dobbs result.

Christian Grad Student Sues University for Emotional Distress, Damage to Reputation

By: Bruce Hausknecht

Maggie DeJong should be familiar to readers of The Daily Citizen. Earlier this year, we reported on the young woman’s experience as a graduate student in art therapy at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where simply offering a Christian perspective on issues discussed in her classes, on social media and among her peers, resulted in official “no contact” orders involving several of her “offended” classmates.

Her professors and classmates publicly criticized her for her viewpoints. The school “investigated” her after issuing the “no contact” orders, only to drop its investigation after DeJong’s lawyers with Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) sent the university a letter challenging its actions as a violation of her First Amendment freedoms of speech and religion.

But after attempting to destroy her reputation and causing her emotional distress, the university did nothing to repair the damage after it dropped its investigation. Nor did it change any of the policies that led to DeJong’s nightmare.

That failure to make things right has led DeJong to sue the university in federal court.

The lawsuit alleges that the university bowed to the woke student mob that wanted to see her punished for her political and religious viewpoints.

Here’s What You Need to Know About Pro-Life Champion Ben Shapiro

By: Zachary Mettler

Earlier this year, Focus on the Family was excited to announce SeeLife 2022, a special pro-life event that is coming up in just two weeks.

The event is a part of Focus on the Family’s pro-life campaign Seize This Pro-Life Moment, which is a “nationwide twelve-week effort to encourage Christian families, friends of the ministry, pastors, and churches to take tangible steps to show compassionate pro-life care to women facing unexpected pregnancies.”

Ben Shapiro, co-founder and editor emeritus of media outlet, The Daily Wire, will be SeeLife 2022’s keynote speaker, along with fellow Daily Wire host Candace Owens.

Shapiro has become something of a modern phenomenon, taking the political commentary world by storm.

He’s done much in his life, for being just 38 years old.

The whip-smart, fast-talking conservative, at the age of 17, became the youngest nationally syndicated columnist in the United States. He’s a graduate from Harvard Law School, and host of The Ben Shapiro Show.

Shapiro has helped grow The Daily Wire into a $100 million business with 150 full-time employees, headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee.
