GOPAC Election Fund Endorses Tom Barrett for Congress

Candidate for Michigan's 7th Congressional District

The GOPAC Election Fund is proud to endorse Michigan State Senator Tom Barrett for Michigan's 7th Congressional District.

Tom joined the United States Army his senior year in high school, taking his first-ever airplane flight to Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

His service in the military continued for more than 22 years, with deployments in Kuwait, Guantanamo Bay, South Korea, and combat in Iraq. After returning, the Army selected him to attend flight school at Fort Rucker, Alabama where he learned to fly some of the most advanced helicopters in the world.

In 2014, Tom ran for State Representative, defeating an incumbent Democrat by just 148 votes, while running ahead of the incumbent Republican governor. He won a rematch in 2016, and then defeated a well-funded Democrat in the top targeted Senate seat of 2018 by 10 percentage points, running ahead of Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer by 14 points in a wave election year for Michigan Democrats.
