** World Surfing Reserves:
Our Flagship Program Continues to Grow!

Find out what's going World Surfing Reserves across the globe: from Playa Hermosa WSR's dedication ([link removed]) in Costa Rica to water quality tracking at the Guarda do Embau WSR ([link removed]) in Brazil.
We have designated 10 WSR sites to date operating under LSC management in California, Mexico, Peru, Chile, Brazil, Portugal, and Australia. Two WSRs(in Costa Rica and the U.K) have been nominated, pending designation.

"The 10th Anniversary summit and celebration had an awesome turnout from the Santa Cruz community- all areas of the town, from surfers to scientists came together for the World Surfing Reserve. We gained valuable feedback to update the Local Stewardship Plan with tangible action items that we will work with to protect our local surf ecosystem."

Recently, Save The Waves had the humbling opportunity of speaking at the Our Ocean Conference in the small island state of Palau about the important role surfers play in protecting vital coastal ecosystems.
Originally conceived of by then-Secretary of State John Kerry, the Our Ocean Conference has become a unique and powerful gathering that helps countries and NGOs organize and collaborate across institutions while tackling the biggest challenges facing the health of our oceans.
