Should Congress take action to get PFAS out of our food?

Breaking news, friend –

New testing from Consumer Reports has found cancer-causing PFAS chemicals on dozens of food wrappers from major takeout chains and grocery stores!

These results follow research published by EWG five years ago in collaboration with academic researchers, federal and state regulatory agencies, and other nonprofit research organizations. At the time, EWG’s tests of hundreds of food wrappers, bags and boxes showed signs of deliberate PFAS use.

This new study supports what we found five years ago and shows that food chains aren’t moving fast enough to get PFAS out of their products. Unbelievable!

It’s clear that any use of PFAS is too much. Even low doses of these toxic “forever chemicals” have been linked to serious health risks, like suppression of the immune system, reduced vaccine effectiveness and cancer.

The FDA has known for decades about the potential for PFAS-laced materials to cause health harm. And yet, time and again, they have failed to act. That’s why EWG is pressuring Congress to BAN the use of PFAS in food packaging.

We’re asking for your help, friend. We need 6,700 of our top supporters to complete a quick survey on PFAS chemicals by midnight tonight. Your responses will help us formulate our plans to get PFAS chemicals out of our food and water for good.
