Opening session, keynote speech by Dritan Abazović, and plenary session on security and defence

During our opening session, Evelyne Huytebroeck and Thomas Waitz, European Green Party Co-Chairs, and Antoņina Ņenaševa, Progresīvie Co-Chair, welcome you to the 35th European Green Party Council, after which Dritan Abazović, Prime Minister of Montenegro, will hold a keynote speech.

During the first plenary session, we aim to spark a conversation on the adequate Green response to the war in Ukraine and showcase that Green policies extend beyond climate action and environmentalism as well as give a voice to locals and experts on what can and should be the path forward.

On Saturday, we start the day with a keynote speech from Virginijus Sinkevičius, European Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries.

Plenary session on a just transition

Saturday's plenary session will focus on a just transition at a time of crisis. How can we strengthen European solidarity, while tackling high energy prices, energy poverty and driving clean energy? What does it take to create 'green jobs'?  How can we share the story that a good, healthy life for all, means 'people' and 'planet' go hand in hand?
