Today we honor the LGBTQIA+ activists, organizers, and leaders who made this month possible and celebrate all of the LGBTQIA+ members of our St. Louis community who enrich our district every single day.
But we can't celebrate without honoring past generations' bravery, activism, and struggle for liberation including the uprisings rooted in the Stonewall Riots. And in doing so, we must do everything we can to protect and uplift LGBTQIA+ youths and adults today.
That's why Cori is working in Congress to promote legislation to protect LGBTQIA+ rights. Last year, Cori was an original cosponsor of the Equality Act, a bill that would prohibit discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
Like so many other pieces of legislation, the Equality Act passed the House but has been waiting for a vote in the Senate for months, paralyzed by the Senate filibuster. Enough is enough. We're calling for an end to the filibuster and a Senate vote on the Equality Act.
