Dear John,
We’re excited to share a recent endorsement with you, as well as some recent and upcoming media appearances.
Can you help us extend this momentum and accelerate during the last few days before the jungle primary next Tuesday?
This week, the San Francisco Bayview, a locally published newspaper with a national audience, published its voters guide for the election currently underway.
While the editors generally adopted the recommendations of a San Francisco public school teacher, they took their own positions in two races, one of which was our’s. The original author declined to endorse anyone in our race, but the editors made their preferences clear.
With just a few days before the voting period ends, can you join us—and the SF Bayview—to reach more voters as we close in on the finish line?
One reason we’re especially grateful for the Bayview’s endorsement is because it highlights the tension in the press that our campaign forces into the public.
Most newspapers practice access journalism, sadly deferring to powerful figures who they are ethically committed to holding accountable.
Having seen a Black newspaper expose stories that remain suppressed by other local writers, it’s no surprise to see the Bayview continuing to demonstrate that independence.
Are you in a position to help us continue demonstrating that same independence in the political sphere by holding the establishment accountable? Having forced Pelosi to concede her previous positions on issues from labor rights to insider trading, we need your help to repeat that pattern as we work to end her dynasty.
In addition to our appearance in the San Francisco Bayview, we’re also grateful for a few other media appearances this week.
Reflecting bizarre ironies of political tribalism, we welcomed a story in the New York Post highlighting our critique of the incumbent’s multifaceted corruption. I also appeared on a live national segment on Newsmax that reiterated that critique, while also promoting universal healthcare and climate justice to an audience that rarely gets to hear about those proposals.
Finally, we heard just yesterday that KPFA Pacifica 94.1FM will broadcast this Sunday, June 5 from 7-8pm, excerpts from the Empathy Circle recently hosted by organizers of OccupySF.net. Tune in then to hear a unique dialog unlike any in which I’d participated before!
Thanks for standing with us and supporting my voice! I’ve been committed for decades to ending corruption, expanding human rights, and championing climate justice—but my concerns have reached a great many more ears with your support.
Yours,
Shahid
