Dear Friend —

In Long Beach, across state, and the country cases of COVID-19 have begun to trend upward again after a significant drop this spring. Luckily, our community has made incredible progress in getting people vaccinated which has helped to keep hospitalizations and deaths down — and it's important that we continue building on this progress to better protect more people.

In the past weeks, Long Beach has begun to administer second booster vaccines to people 50 and older and those with underlying health conditions as well as first boosters of Pfizer vaccines to kids ages 5-11. If you or a loved one fall within these categories, please take advantage of this life-saving opportunity.

All of our COVID-19 testing, vaccine and booster information can be found here <[link removed]>.

In Long Beach, we're also taking steps to lead by example by ensuring every city employee is vaccinated to help keep residents safe.

With this new uptick in cases, these efforts have a renewed importance. We can all take steps to keep ourselves and those around us healthy by staying home and getting tested if we feel unwell and wearing a mask when indoors in a large group setting. Most importantly, please get vaccinated and boosted.

Vaccines and boosters are safe and have been incredibly effective in preventing hospitalizations and deaths in our city. They have saved countless lives and are the best tool we have for keeping our schools and businesses open and safe.

Thank you,

Mayor Robert Garcia
