Livestream workshop on July 2 at 6pm CT

Hello Indivisiblings,

Greetings from Indivisible Houston!

We are proud to be in the fight with all of you, and to disrupt this week’s Indivisible newsletter… though not as proud as we were to disrupt Ted Cruz’s evening last week when our board member Benjamin Hernandez took him on over his callous and deadly opposition to gun reform during dinner at a fancy sushi spot following the NRA Convention.

Benjamin Hernandez confronts Sen. Cruz over gun safety

If you are wondering how we did it, we are happy to share it, and will be running a livestream workshop tonight, June 2, at 6pm Central Time titled "Challenge Them" on how to hold extremist MAGA politicians accountable on the spot. Bring your questions; unlike Ted Cruz, we will be happy to answer them.

Since sharing that video with the world, we have seen people across six continents express their gratitude and support. More importantly, more people than ever have expressed just how ready they are to take action when they see their own MAGA politicians, many of whom are so afraid of taking questions from constituents that they have disappeared from the public.

Yet the truth is that while confronting Cruz was the most seen part of our week, we have been proud to work with many groups such as Black Lives Matter Houston, March for Our Lives Houston, Moms Demand Action’s Texas chapter, Everytown, FIEL, and others as May drew to a close to support a counter rally right in front of the NRA Convention. Our numbers dwarfed the attendance of the blood merchants across the street. We also dogged the convention in advance of doors opening, and removed an agitator ourselves when local law enforcement failed to do so.

In other words, we have been busy. Very busy.

But it’s necessary. Now is the time to stand up to the NRA and call out politicians such as Cruz, Greg Abbott, Dan Patrick, and John Cornyn for taking NRA blood money. Those murdered in Uvalde, Buffalo, and the many other devastating mass shootings that have taken place since Columbine are on the hands of these politicians. The solutions they offer are nonsense; the solutions we all stand for are supported by an overwhelming majority of Americans.

Here’s how we’ll do it: first, join us for tonight’s training, and learn how to get into good trouble and challenge your reps on camera for the world to see. Then, take to the street with activists across the country on Saturday, June 11 for a national day of action to end gun violence. Click here to find your nearest event now, and invite friends, family and neighbors to march with us. And if you are in Houston, we hope to see you at the March for Our Lives Houston as part of a national day of action calling for gun reform Saturday, June 11, from 10am-1pm at Tranquility Park located at 400 Rusk in Downtown Houston.

Solidarity,
