This past month our country was faced with two devastating mass shootings that culminated in the senseless deaths of over 30 people. Our nation remains in mourning for the lives taken and the communities affected, but the best way to honor their memory is to ensure their death will not be in vain.

Diana is not new to the fight against gun violence. For years now, she has been a strong advocate for enacting common-sense gun safety measures to protect our people and our communities. That's why she's the lead sponsor of legislation being heard next week in the House. She knows that we must act now but this is going to take collective action.

The NRA and the gun lobby are powerful, John, but we believe that the power of the people and love for community is stronger. Recent polls show that the majority of Americans want gun control, and Diana is fully ready to continue leading the fight in the House.

Despite the opinion of the gun lobby, nineteen good guys with guns couldn't stand up to one bad guy with an assault weapon, and "thoughts and prayers" are hypocritical when paired with inaction. We must use this moment of grief and sorrow to actively prevent another tragedy by passing common-sense policy.
