Friend,
Strong unions mean a strong middle class. They mean fair wages, benefits, and better working conditions for everyone. That’s why the fight for workers to unionize at Starbucks and Amazon matters so much. Union election petitions are up 57% in the last six months, but we can’t just sit back and let union organizers do the hard work. We need to step up and stand with them.
We can start by demanding that the Senate pass the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act to strengthen collective bargaining rights and hold corporations accountable for violating workers' rights.
I have worked with unions for years, helping the United Auto Workers (UAW) secure federal worker retraining grants and fighting for fair contracts and labor practices with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). While serving in the Department of Commerce, I pushed to give labor unions a stronger voice in influencing economic policy. But we can do more.
Will you help us turn up the heat on the Senate and make the PRO Act the law of the land?
In solidarity,
Ro
