It’s been a long and painful week. We have watched with broken hearts as the Uvalde community wrestles with a level of grief that no human being should have to bear. In the days since, we have borne witness to more guns, more loss of innocent life, more uniquely American tragedy – yesterday included one in Tulsa, Oklahoma, one of Groundwork's states.
And, still, a government that once again seems incapable of responding.
Our team here at Groundwork took a real break over the long weekend. We needed the time away to process, rest, take care of ourselves and hug our loved ones close. I hope you all had a chance to unplug and be with your people, too.
And I know how committed you all are to channeling your grief and rage into action. Here at Groundwork, we are as determined as ever to grow our efforts and continue funneling our resources where they can have the biggest impact – to hyperlocal, grassroots organizers that are building lasting political infrastructure in some of the toughest regions out there. Because we know that sustained, locally-led, progressive organizing is the only way we can compete with conservative state power, on everything from gun violence to abortion to voting rights.
If you’re looking for a place to make an impact, I hope you’ll join us. Follow us on our new Facebook page to stay-up-to date on everything we are doing (plus find ways to take action). Check out some of our recent posts and thoughts below.
More soon,
