Today, Hakeem and the House Judiciary Committee will debate and pass comprehensive anti-gun violence legislation.

In the wake of mass shootings in a Buffalo grocery store, then an Uvalde elementary school, and just yesterday in a Tulsa hospital, these popular, common sense gun violence prevention reforms couldn’t come at a more critical time.

Despite what the other side might try to argue, the desire to own an AR-15 to hunt human beings is not a right found anywhere in the Constitution. These weapons of war used to hunt children have no place in a civilized society.

That’s why Hakeem and his Democratic committee members are taking action. They’ll be sending the “Protect Our Kids Act” to the House floor — sweeping gun violence prevention legislation that will raise the age for purchasing a semi-automatic rifle, make it illegal to sell, manufacture, or possess a large-capacity magazine, and more.

Hakeem and House Democrats aren’t wasting any time taking action to prevent senseless gun violence, and they won’t let extremist Republicans get in the way of protecting our children and communities.
