How many people get the chance to send their own lawyers to fight for them at the Supreme Court of Canada?

Hi John,

How many people get the chance to send their own lawyers to fight for them at the Supreme Court of Canada?

Thousands of taxpayers like you are chipping in $10 to send their Canadian Taxpayers Federation lawyers to fight the anti-pipeline legislation at the Supreme Court.

I just wanted to make sure you didn’t miss the email all about it below.

Dear John,

You need a lawyer in the Supreme Court to fight for pipelines.

Here’s what’s happening:

Your Canadian Taxpayers Federation lawyers jumped into the court fight against Ottawa’s anti-pipeline legislation, Bill C-69. We won when the Alberta Court of Appeal ruled the bill is unconstitutional. That’s a huge victory for thousands of CTF supporters like you.

You know if the government kills the oil and gas industry, higher taxes and larger deficits will replace those resource revenues.

You won the first battle and you need to win the war.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced he’s going to drag his anti-pipeline bill to the Supreme Court of Canada.

Your CTF lawyers are brilliant and they give us deep discounts, but going to the Supreme Court isn’t cheap. And the other side will have high-powered legal teams from organizations such as Ecojustice Canada and Environmental Defence Inc. We have budgeted $30,000 to stand up for taxpayers at the Supreme Court.

Here’s the great thing about the CTF: hundreds of thousands of other taxpayers are standing with you. You don’t have to do this alone. We’re all in this together.

We need 3,000 supporters to chip in $10 each so that your CTF lawyers can fight Ottawa’s anti-pipeline legislation at the Supreme Court. Will you step up? Please donate now through our secure website: [link removed] ([link removed])

You need to have a voice for taxpayers in this court. You’d think the oil and gas industry would be lining up the lawyers in this fight, but as we learned during the carbon tax court cases, many companies are too chicken to stand up to the government. That’s why you need to step up.

This is going to be a tough fight, but you have a real chance to win this. We almost won the split decision on the carbon tax at the Supreme Court. You have an even better chance to win this fight against this anti-pipeline legislation.

Thanks for fighting for taxpayers – it’s making a difference!

Sincerely,
* Franco, Shannon, Todd and the rest of the CTF team.

PS: We know things are tight right now. But a little bit can make a big difference when you combine it with thousands of other taxpayers – even $5. You can join the fight on our secure website: [link removed] ([link removed])
