Dear John,
For better and for worse, what happens in the United States often has an outsized influence on the rest of the world. If the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, it will not only cause grave harm in the United States, but also in many other countries.

In Kenya, where I live and work, we anticipate the opposition will be emboldened by this decision and use it as fuel for their anti-abortion efforts. This concern is echoed by many of my colleagues in places as varied as Bolivia, Ethiopia and India. We also worry that abortion stigma will increase, causing harm to abortion providers and people seeking care.

I invite you to read what my colleagues around the world are saying ([link removed]) about the harmful impacts they anticipate.

We will not let any of this stop us. Abortion access is a human right for people everywhere, and the overturn of Roe will be a call to action for Ipas and our many partners to persist in our work to expand abortion access to all who need it—everywhere.
