Friend,

Community, love, family, and food.

That’s what Immigrant Heritage Month is all about. Throughout June, FWD.us is joining with the I Am An Immigrant coalition to celebrate June’s Immigrant Heritage Month — all of the tangible and intangible aspects of heritage that connect immigrants to our countries of origin, to each other, and to this country.

Specifically, we will be uplifting aspects of heritage that resonate and are important to each of us, no matter our immigration status or where we originally come from: community, love, family, and food.

We have a lot to celebrate! Immigrant Heritage Month is a perfect time to share traditional foods and recipes with friends and neighbors, and also find new ways to fuse these classic dishes with foods from other cultures.

This year’s Immigrant Heritage Month in-person city celebrations across the country — in New York City, Orlando, Seattle, and Minneapolis — celebrate the joy and tradition of the foods that made us. As part of “The Food That Made Us” tour, the IHM food truck in each city will serve curated recipes from celebrity chefs — including Joanne Chang, Tom Colicchio, Byron Gomez, Christine Hà, and Hawa Hassan — that they’ve created specially for this year’s Immigrant Heritage Month. If we’re hosting an Immigrant Heritage Month event in a city near you, you’ll hear from us soon. But no matter where you live, Immigrant Heritage Month is a time to come together with your family and community, however you define them, to celebrate.

Watch and share the Immigrant Heritage Month video on ‘I Am An Immigrant’ to help uplift the stories of immigrants from across the world whose lives and experiences enrich our country and our communities.

Community, family, love, and food. I hope you’re as excited as I am to explore each of these aspects of our distinctively American immigrant story all month long.

Thank you for standing with immigrants today and every day,

FWD.us Team
