John – good news, bad news, and uncertain news. We'll start with the bad news:
- ★ After an initial court victory, the Kansas Supreme Court upheld Republicans' gerrymandered congressional map.
Now for the good news:
- ★ In Missouri, Republicans failed to enact the hyperpartisan 7-1 congressional map they wanted!
And the uncertain news:
- ★ A Florida court ruled that Ron DeSantis' manipulated congressional map cannot be used in the 2022 election. But the map was put back into effect, so things are still up in the air.
What does all this mean for us? It means that our fight for fair maps goes on.
We may win some battles and we may lose some, but at the end of the day, A.G. Holder's multi-pronged strategy is working and leading to what some experts are calling the most balanced congressional map in a generation.
So we have to keep at it – and with the 2022 elections just over five months away, this fight has never been more urgent. Will you chip in NOW to help the NDRC keep working toward fair redistricting and a strong democracy?
