Hi John,
It has been just over a week since 19 young children and two teachers were gunned down in their classroom on the second to last day of school at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, TX and just over two weeks since 10 shoppers were killed in a racist attack at a grocery store in Buffalo.
We know that many of you, like us, have been eager for ways to get involved at this crucial moment. Today we’re sharing several actions you can take now to contribute to the fight:
- Attend an event: There are many gun violence prevention events happening this week to honor victims and demand action. Check your local websites to find one near you.
- Tune in: We’ll be livestreaming a press event this Friday. Watch on Facebook.
- Wear Orange: Find out how to get involved in Wear Orange this weekend, June 3-5.
- Mark your calendar: March for Our Lives will take place June 11th.
- Donate: Support families of victims and survivors of Buffalo and Uvalde. And fund our fight to keep our communities safe.
- Contact Congress: Demand an assault weapons ban.
- Vote: Make sure your voter registration info is up to date and cast your ballot for gun violence prevention champions.
- Connect: Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
- Talk to your kids: Check out resources from the NY Times and NPR.
- Share: Spread the word about how you’re getting involved. Share actions on social media and encourage friends and family to get involved.
We know that it will take more than thoughts and prayers to put an end to this crisis. We’ll continue sharing as much information as we can about how to plug in. We’re so glad to have you in this fight alongside us.
Thanks,
Tremayne (he/him)
