John,
Today marks the start of Pride Month, when we commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Riots and the movement that put us on a path towards equality.
As a proud ally of the LGBTQ+ community, I’m excited to spend this month celebrating how far we’ve come and the progress we’ve made in the fight for equality. But I also recognize that, almost 50 years after Stonewall, we still have a long way to go.
The fight for justice isn’t easy, and too often, it feels like we’re moving backwards. Across the country, bigotry is on the rise. Violence against members of the LGBTQ+ community — particularly against people of color — is on the rise. And corporate politicians like Donald Payne Jr. have failed to take the action necessary to meet this moment.
But I’ve been a political organizer for a long time. I’ve seen what it takes to make progress, and I know that, if we continue to stand together, take action, and demand change, we can win the fight for equality and justice.
