Oregon is a political hotbed this year, and one of the most consequential elections in the country is our state's race for governor.
In 2022, we're facing the first gubernatorial election in two decades that doesn't feature a current or former governor in the race. And on top of that, we've got a wealthy self-funding third-party candidate that's picking up huge six-figure donations from corporate interests.
All that makes it the most competitive race for Governor in a generation.
Oregon Democrats have nominated my good friend Tina Kotek. She's experienced, she's ready, and she's a powerhouse progressive that will make us proud.
I know we've had Democratic governors for many years, but make no mistake: This is going to be a really tough race for Tina to win. The Oregon governor's race is unique this year in that Tina's not just facing a single Republican, she has two major opponents on the ballot —
1) an anti-choice Republican who will do the bidding of corporate special interests (no matter who wins the nomination, you know this will be accurate), and
2) a third-party candidate who is terrible on climate and gun safety, and who will be pulling in great gobs of cash from corporate special interests.
That's why it's supremely important to unite behind Tina Kotek now. She's a proven progressive fighter who will lead Oregon into the future. This is going to be a tough, tough race – and we need to do all we can to help Tina.
