Like many of you, I’m horrified and heartbroken over the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.

I know firsthand the horrors of mass shootings. My life was changed forever when I survived a mass shooting at a constituent event in my hometown, but others didn’t make it.

I decided to turn my pain into purpose by becoming a national gun safety advocate and I've never looked back.

But the truth is that we can’t win this fight alone. We need elected leaders who will fight for our safety. That’s why I’m proud to support my friend Steve Sisolak for re-election. I’ve watched him fight for gun safety measures, and he’s passed some of the most consequential gun violence prevention legislation in Nevada’s history.

One of the first bills Steve signed as governor closed the gun show loophole to ensure common sense background checks are conducted on gun sales between unlicensed individuals. He enacted extreme risk protection orders to keep firearms away from those who pose a danger to themselves or others. He outlawed bump stocks, because you shouldn't be able to turn guns into fully automatic weapons.

As long as Steve is governor in Nevada, I know—and his constituents do too—he will do everything in his power to protect our communities from gun violence.
