NEW Report: How DHS's Biometrics Database Will Supercharge Surveillance
IDP’s Surveillance Tech and Immigration Policing Project, in partnership with Just Futures Law and Mijente, released “HART Attack: How DHS’s Massive Biometrics Database Will Supercharge Surveillance and Threaten Rights,” highlighting the harms of DHS’ $6.158 billion biometric database. HART will aggregate invasive data on hundreds of millions, enabling widespread data sharing between policing agencies and government across the world. Thirty-nine organizations signed a letter calling on Amazon Web Services to stop hosting HART, joining the chorus of protests against the company’s role in furthering state violence.
