After the horrific tragedy in Uvalde, Texas, Donna Edwards made it clear
what Congress must do immediately: "To do list: background checks, assault
weapons ban, ban high capacity magazines. Civilians don’t need tactical
military weapons of war. Full stop."
Donna Edwards served in Congress after defeating a corporate Democrat
incumbent during the Iraq war era in 2008. She then stepped away in 2017,
and is now coming back stronger than ever as she runs against a corporate,
establishment Democrat.
Donna is ready to serve Maryland’s 4th district and the American people. A
staunch progressive, she would regain all of her House seniority and be a
top leader in the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

Raising her son as a single working mom, Donna faced a tough choice -- to
get health insurance for him, she had to go without it for herself.
Then, an illness resulted in a trip to the emergency room for her that
left her with thousands of dollars of medical debt, and she almost lost
their home as a result.
With Republicans mounting relentless attacks on reproductive rights in
order to push the Supreme Court in their direction, Donna is ready to pass
Medicare for All and protect abortion rights and our right to healthcare.
Donna knows that our democracy is in peril. When elected, she will fight
to immediately pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Enhancement Act and the
For the People Act to safeguard our elections and protect our right to
vote. She will work to overturn Citizens United and end partisan
gerrymandering.
With gun violence ravaging the country, healthcare costs higher than ever,
and our democracy at stake, Donna Edwards is exactly the type of leader we
need fighting in the halls of Congress.
