Can I take a few minutes of your time to be very honest with
you, John?

I’ve been thinking a lot recently about the Buffalo and Uvalde massacres.

In not one but both situations, police GROSSLY failed to protect the
people. We’ve seen it all over the news.

The Justice Department has announced they are going to conduct a review of
law enforcement response in the Uvalde shooting.

But here’s the thing. There are countless examples not being covered by
the media of police simply failing, with their incompetence leading to
injury or death. And in those cases, with no local DA there committed to
holding them accountable, they GET AWAY WITH IT. They stay on payroll. And
keep doing the same thing.

It reminds me just how important our work here is at Real Justice —
because electing responsible, fearless, justice-focused DAs really is a
matter of life and death.

We have SEVEN DA elections coming up in June alone. It is these DAs that
can help set a bold standard for how we handle gross negligence and
misconduct from police.

The good news is we are ONLY $1,060 away from our fundraising goal, and
every dollar you give right now goes to our work to vet, elect, and defend
the DAs our communities urgently need.

[ [link removed] ]Can you make your best donation yet to help us hit our goal and make
sure we can give DA candidates the support they need to win? Whether you
give $3, $30 or $300, our entire team is SO appreciative of your support.

Sometimes people forget or are simply unaware about just how much power a
local DA can have in situations like this, beyond even holding police
accountable. They can change the entire narrative if they want.

After the Buffalo shooting, another local DA nearby in Broome County had a
press conference where he stated “everyone has a right to be stupid” in
reponse to the shooter’s manifesto that clearly showed this to be racially
motivated.

I wish I was making this up.

Can you IMAGINE if the shooting had happened in that county!? Would the DA
even call it a racist attack?!

It’s a painful example of how a tragedy like this can be handled with the
WRONG DA — and why we need to keep working to elect and defend as many DAs
whose first and only concern is to keep the people safe.

These seven upcoming races are for the kind of DAs we can count on.

[ [link removed] ]We are only $1,060 away from our May goal, so, I’m begging you to make
a donation to fund our work to elect and defend them. Really, ANY amount
you can give makes a difference.

Love and appreciate you,

Shaun
