Hey Friend,
Once again, Happy Asian American Pacific Islander Month!
During the month of May, we made it our mission to shine a light on AAPI voters, voices, and the issues that matter to us. We did just that — and then some.
As AAPI month comes to a close, I want to celebrate our impact with you.
- Nearly 2,000 people signed our petition urging Congress to pave a pathway to citizenship for the immigrant community because we believe everyone deserves to live without fearing separation from their families and livelihoods.
- We scheduled over 100 volunteer shifts for our AAPI advocacy and relational organizing events.
- Drew Afualo, best known as TikTok’s iconic “Crusader of Women” and a proud Samoan content creator, stopped by our volunteer event to say hello!
- We engaged in innovative organizing tactics using messaging platforms like WhatsApp, KakaoTalk, and WeChat to connect with members of our community where they’re at.
- During our social media week of action, we ramped up our content on Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok to promote the power of AAPI voters and activists — reaching an audience of 32,489.
- We launched a sticker giveaway, so our community could show off our AAPI pride!
I want to stress that our organizing doesn’t stop at the end of this month — not today, not until we see the change we deserve. If this month showed us anything, it’s that we are taking control of our future and we’re doing it together.
As we gear up for the 2022 midterms, this is a critical moment to galvanize the rising political consciousness of the AAPI community. We’re mobilizing young people invested in fortifying immigrant rights, economic justice, ballot access, health access, language access, and more.
Will you join us?
Yours truly,
