John,
Corporate PACs are terrified of us.
So they’ve spent the past year shoveling piles of cash into Democratic primaries, hoping to elect candidates that will vote like Republicans. Some of these PACs―like AIPAC, the biggest spender―even endorsed more than 100 Republicans who voted to overturn the 2020 election.
They’re spending to prop up candidates like Kurt Schrader and Henry Cuellar who were instrumental in killing the most popular parts of the Build Back Better agenda, like lowering prescription drug prices and allowing Medicare to cover dental and hearing care.
Let’s be clear: This isn’t democracy. This is the corporate capture of our government. It’s why politicians like Donald Trump, Rick Scott, and Marco Rubio are comfortable proposing to kill universally beloved Social Security and Medicare.
Democrats created Social Security and Medicare―and corporate fat cats have been gunning for them ever since. We must demand that our leadership strongly denounces these corporate dark money attacks on our democracy!
Tell Democratic leadership and Speaker Pelosi: Make clear that anyone who is part of corporate dark-money misinformation ads has no place among Democrats in Congress and the DCCC.
Thanks,
Alex Lawson Social Security Works
