The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation has elected as trustees two nurses who are deeply committed to transforming health care and building a Culture of Health for a diverse society: Azita Emami, PhD, MSN, BSN, and Jing Wang, PhD, MPH, RN. Wang also serves on the Campaign’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Steering Committee. Their terms start July 27.

Report Says Nursing Shortage Needs More Attention, Offers Ideas
America needs more nurses, yet qualified students are turned away each year. Central to solving the shortage, says a new report, “is a higher education system that has the capacity to supply enough nursing graduates to meet the demands.” The report from the Center for American Progress, an independent nonpartisan policy institute, has suggestions for employers, policymakers, and others.
American Nurses Foundation Boosts Efforts to Reimagine Health Care
Announced last year, the American Nurses Foundation Reimagining Nursing Initiative (RN Initiative) is now granting $14 million to 10 pilot programs in 21 states. Learn more about the innovations that nurses are bringing to life in the three focus areas: practice-ready nurse graduates; technology-enabled nursing practice; and the direct-reimbursement nursing model.

“Breaking Research Barriers,” a podcast from the Duke University School of Nursing Center for Nursing Research Health, aims to inspire equity and inclusion at each stage of research. Episodes will address a range of topics, including closing the health equity gap, cultural intelligence, colorblind racism and white hegemony, data equity, partnering with stakeholders and more.

Journal of Professional Nursing Seeks Peer Reviews
The Journal of Professional Nursing seeks to add reviewers to help in its peer review of manuscripts. The need is greatest now for those with expertise in qualitative research methods and statistics, but the publication welcomes applications from others who have proficiency in other areas.
Do you and your team have an idea for redesigning a healthy environment where the workforce can thrive? Pitch your idea for a chance to receive a grant up to $250,000 to bring it to life. Nurse-led nonprofit health systems—ideally, those that are interdisciplinary—are invited to start by completing the eligibility form.
The newly created Leonard A. Lauder Community Care Nurse Practitioner Program, a result of the $125 million gift from Lauder, an alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania, seeks a faculty director. The tuition-free program will prepare a diverse cadre of expert nurse practitioners to support underserved communities across the U.S.
