May is Mental Health Awareness Month – a time to remember that mental health plays a significant role in your overall health and well-being. Good mental health strengthens your ability to cope with whatever life throws at you, and can help your life become more manageable and enjoyable!

The last two years of stress, isolation, and uncertainty related to the COVID-19 pandemic have taken a toll on millions of people's well-being – yet mental health knowledge and treatment still carry a stigma for many. Embarrassment, shame, and fear keep people from getting the help they need.

What is one way you can help #breakthestigma for Mental Health Awareness Month? 1. Talk openly about mental health; 2. Treat physical and mental health equally; 3. Educate yourself and others on mental health recovery options; 4. Show compassion toward those with mental health conditions (including yourself!); 5. All of the above

Choose one way you will help #breakthestigma for yourself and your loved ones this month >>

No one should feel alone or without options when facing a mental health challenge, diagnosis, or emergency. Hospitals and health systems can play an essential role in supporting those who seek treatment. By creating space for patients – and health care workers – to open up about their mental health and well-being we can tear down barriers that keep people from getting help.
