Diesel school bus pollution is dangerous and jeopardizing our kids' health. Electric school buses can help. Tell your senators to co-sponsor the Clean School Bus Act NOW.
This is huge, friend! Our grassroots efforts to fight pollution and bring clean rides to kids is paying off! I want to tell you about the next step in our fight:
Senator Kamala Harris recently introduced the Clean School Bus Act to accelerate the electrification of our nation's school bus fleet.
This legislation could be a game-changer. Transportation emissions are the largest source of pollution in the United States. And when kids encounter that pollution on school buses, it can result in dangerous respiratory illnesses and more absences from school. Asthma attacks are a leading cause of school absenteeism, particularly for low-income and communities of color who often don't have access to quality health care. Our kids deserve better.
Switching to electric school buses will improve health and educational outcomes for students AND help combat climate change.
The Clean School Bus Act is the first federal legislation to prioritize the electrification of school buses in low-income and most impacted communities. We know that frontline communities are most at-risk of breathing dirty air and disproportionately carry the burden of pollution — that's why we're urging senators to co-sponsor today, and we need your help.

The Clean School Bus Act will:
- Provide grants of up to $2 million to replace diesel school buses with electric school buses.
- Give priority to applications that serve lower-income students.
- Replace the most polluting buses and decrease pollution from emissions.
- Authorize funds from the Department of Energy to fund Clean School Bus Grant Program.
This federal progress is the result of the impact we've had in states across the country. Thanks to years of Chispa grassroots organizing through the Clean Buses for Healthy Niños campaign and the dedication of advocates in our community, this year we have seen significant progress to invest in electric school buses in Nevada, Arizona, Maryland, and New York, and we're currently pushing Colorado, New Mexico, and Connecticut to do the same.
We're taking the next step to bring this progress EVERYWHERE and need YOU to join the movement for electric school buses for our kids across the country. In order to make this a reality, we need all of our senators to stand behind this bill. Tell your senators to co-sponsor the Clean School Bus Act to bring clean school buses to your community.
Kids shouldn't have to worry about breathing dirty air on their way to school. Urge your senators to co-sponsor the Clean School Bus Act for better health, fewer absences, and better educational outcomes for our kids.
Our campaign is proof that grassroots, community-driven solutions can lead to real change. We can't thank our moms, youth, and community groups enough for leading the fight. We're committed to supporting solutions led by Latinos and communities of color and making communities' political power seen, heard, and felt by decision makers.
Thank you for being a part of the fight.
