Encouraging welfare recipients to enter private sector work and become self-sufficient is the most compassionate position a government official can take.
I support work requirements and transition wages/benefits to move able-bodied people from government dependency to independence. For the sake of those in need, we must ensure that benefits are only provided to eligible recipients.
