John, it's Jamie McLeod-Skinner. And after a week-long ballot-counting debacle in Oregon's Clackamas County, I’m overjoyed to share with you that we won the primary.
The Associated Press finally called it: I am officially the Democratic nominee for Oregon’s 5th Congressional District.
But I want to make it clear — this victory is not just mine. It belongs to so many — every single voter, supporter, organizer, grassroots donor, and person who believed in our vision for Oregon and helped make this happen.
Corporate special interests and DC insiders spent more than $3 million to try and buy the nomination for one of the most out-of-touch Democrats in the House, but we had the antidote to their attacks. Our campaign reflected the priorities of working Oregonians. And with the help of people-powered momentum, we overcame their corporate dollars, and our vision for an equitable future prevailed.
But an even longer uphill battle lies ahead.
In November, we’re up against DC insiders, corporate donors, and GOPers working overtime to make life harder for folks in communities across Oregon. You can help us show that they’re no match for our movement: Consider making a contribution of any amount to help power our campaign to victory in the General Election.

I’m running to expand our House majority, make history as the first LGBTQ+ person to represent Oregon in Congress, and ensure that the working families, including often overlooked rural communities, take center stage in our country’s legislative priorities.
But here’s the stark electoral reality: in order to defeat Republicans in November, our campaign needs the resources to reach as many voters in Oregon as possible.
That means having enough funding to hire more organizers, train more volunteers, and have more conversations with folks in our district — whether at their doorstep, over a phone call, or via text.
We are in a time of transformation, but where we go from here depends on grassroots supporters like you, John. If you’re able to, make a contribution to help build out the grassroots organizing force we need to win in November.
