John – June is going to be a busy month for Brand New Congress and our candidates.
We’ve put together a HUGE update on the state of the race for all six candidates on the ballot in the next 30 days. But before we get to that, a quick fundraising update:
Supporting all of these candidates requires infrastructure and staff. We are now just $1,750 shy of our May fundraising goal. Can you contribute $5, $10, or $25 to help close the gap before midnight tonight so we’re ready for anything in June? [[link removed]]

You can also help every one of these candidates by signing up to volunteer for Brand New Congress. We need people to phonebank, text, and (if you’re in the district) help with GOTV canvassing. Sign up at brandnewcongress.org/volunteer [[link removed]] to get started.
Now for the updates.
Coming up on June 7th (one week):
In California, Angélica Dueñas (CA-29) is making her second run against incumbent Tony Cárdenas. Angelica came within 6 points of defeating Tony in the 2020 general election, and she is in great shape to win the primary again this year. If you want to help her across the finish line, split a contribution between Angélica’s campaign and Brand New Congress here:
Elect Angélica >> [[link removed]]
Also in California, Shervin Aazami (CA-32) is up against four other Democrats (including Rep. Brad Sherman, who switched to run in this new district) and two Republicans in California’s top-two primary. Shervin has a strong field game, but just as we’ve seen in Jessica Cisneros’ race, it could be decided by just a handful of votes. You can help Shervin bring it home by splitting a contribution between his campaign and BNC here:
Elect Shervin >> [[link removed]]
In Montana, Tom Winter (MT-01) has been sweeping every candidate forum and has voters across the district really fired up about his campaign. This is an outstanding opportunity to elect a progressive in a newly formed district. If Tom wins this primary, he’ll be squaring off with Trump acolyte Ryan Zinke – who doesn’t even live in Montana! Let’s win in Montana by splitting a donation with Tom and BNC here:
Elect Tom >> [[link removed]]
The final race on June 7th is a big one: Imani Oakley (NJ-10) is taking on the New Jersey Machine and their corrupt ballot design. We’ve run in New Jersey before, and without question, it’s not easy. But Imani is a seasoned organizer and we know if anybody can do it, she can. Let’s give her the edge she needs. Split a donation between Imani and BNC here:
Elect Imani >> [[link removed]]
Coming up on June 14th (two weeks):
Amy Vilela (NV-01) is taking on an entrenched corporate incumbent in Nevada. Amy was one of our original BNC candidates and has become a powerhouse in the progressive movement. She played a key role in Cori Bush’s 2020 victory and in Bernie Sanders’ presidential primary win in Nevada. Amy and her team are transforming the political landscape and turning Nevada into a progressive battleground. She needs all hands on deck. Split a contribution between Amy and Brand New Congress here:
Elect Amy >> [[link removed]]
Coming up on June 28th (four weeks):
With the New York primaries moving out to August, our last primary for June is in Illinois, where Marsha Williams (IL-17) is running for an open seat. This crowded primary has attracted a wide range of candidates since Marsha first launched her campaign last year, but Marsha is the ONLY candidate in the race who has never taken corporate PAC money, and firmly pledged that she never will. Help Marsha bring this home by splitting a donation between her campaign and BNC here:
Elect Marsha >> [[link removed]]
On top of all this, we are tracking developments in TX-28, where Jessica Cisneros’ team is making sure every single ballot is counted and could be gearing up for a recount.
Currently 177 votes separate Jessica from corrupt incumbent Henry Cuellar, and today is the last day for people whose ballots were disenfranchised on election day to have their ballots cured and counted.
If we’ve learned anything this election season, it’s that EVERY VOTE counts and EVERY DOLLAR makes a difference.
However you’re able to contribute, whether it’s giving your time, making a contribution, or spreading the word about BNC candidates – all of it makes an impact. Thank you. 💜
In solidarity,
The entire team at Brand New Congress

Since 2016 BNC has led the way in advancing popular policies like Medicare for All and the Green New Deal. We invest EARLY to help grassroots candidates succeed. We recruited and elected AOC in 2018 and Cori Bush in 2020 alongside Jamaal Bowman and Rashida Tliab. And we have our first win of 2022: Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick won her primary by FIVE votes thanks to BNC.
We have elections from now until November, and our candidates are counting on your support. Pitch in today and join us as we take over Congress and return power to the people.
