Dear John,

In November 2015, we went to the Greek island of Lesvos to help some of the hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees who had risked their lives to cross the Aegean Sea.

As we looked at the thousands of life vests strewn across the beach, we thought back to an upcycling class Zoë took, and the vision for Zoë Bands was born.

By using the vests as source material, we could help clean up the beaches and bring a tangible connection to a crisis that felt a world away to our friends and families.

We could employ Greek seamstresses to make the bands and get help from local shops — all in an effort to support refugee children and their families. And we decided to partner with the IRC because they are leaders in providing refugee families with emergency aid, protection, job training and psychosocial support — in Greece and around the world.

John,
Change is possible when we band together.
Each Zoë Band is made from a life vest once worn by a refugee during their dangerous journey across the Aegean Sea.

    This Black Friday,
when you donate $55 or more
to the IRC, we'll send you a limited edition, IRC-branded Zoë Band to say thanks.
Not only will your band help us spread awareness about the refugee crisis, you'll also be helping us provide lifesaving support to refugee families in Greece and all around the world.

Our partners at When We Band Together work to upcycle life vests worn by refugees and left on the beaches of Lesvos, Greece. Each bracelet is handmade by a local seamstress and is buckled together with a steel magnetic clasp. The name Zoë Bands was created by our Greek partners — who selected it because "Zoë" means "Life."

These limited-edition Zoë Bands are made especially for the IRC and are engraved with the IRC logo. Donate $55 or more to claim yours today. Supplies are limited.
