What to expect from diagnosis and treatment
What to expect from diagnosis and treatment

We wish getting treatment for a child who's struggling with emotional or behavioral problems was as simple as dealing with an ear infection or a broken arm. But it's not. And as parents we are often unsure of the best way to go about getting help, or whether the help we're getting is right for our child.
This week on childmind.org we offer resources to let parents know what you should be able to expect from a professional diagnosing or treating your child. We want you to know the questions to ask, the best practices to look for and the red flags to be aware of. Whether you're trying to figure out what's troubling your child or are frustrated with the care you're getting, these articles are aimed at helping you make good decisions with confidence. It isn't easy, but it's easier when you know what quality care should look like.
