"Advocating for Clients with Mental Health Issues"
Mental health impacts every aspect of our lives. Anxiety, depression, and other conditions were on the rise even before the pandemic. While more immigrants are seeking mental health services, they remain disproportionately underserved, facing cultural and systemic obstacles to treatment. IAN and our partners continue to create and share resources that help you and your clients meet the challenges.
In observance of National Mental Health Awareness Month, we hosted a webinar on immigrant mental health, competency hearings, safeguards, and communication tips. The presentation includes a case study and interactive discussion. The panelists are Aimee Mayer-Salins from Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc.; Dr. Pratyusha Tummala-Narra from the Boston University Department of Psychological and Brian Sciences; and Christine Lin from the Center for Gender and Refugee Studies.
