I’m emailing to ask you to make your first $3 contribution to our campaign. I hope you’ll take a minute of your day and give me a chance to explain why this request is so important.

Here’s the deal: Tonight at midnight, we close the books on our May end-of-month fundraising deadline.

As I’m sure many of you know, the vast majority of the donations we receive come from small-dollar, grassroots contributions, almost entirely from emails just like the one you’re reading now.

Because we fund our campaign this way, I’m able to stay laser-focused on the work I was elected to do in the Senate, rather than worry about our fundraising numbers every day like some of my colleagues. I’m incredibly proud of the fact that we raise money this way — whether it’s $5, $10, or $50 at a time — and I hope you are too.

It’s the same way we had the resources to run our historic campaign in 2020. It was supporters like you chipping in what you could, when you could, that allowed us to mobilize around a progressive agenda that spoke to working people, and that’s why we won.

That important work never stops. If we’re going to continue organizing our movement and building support for our progressive agenda — that means a Green New Deal, Medicare for All, abortion rights, gun safety, expanding the Supreme Court, and so much more — we can’t afford to come up short on our monthly goals.

Now’s the part where I have to ask. What do you say?
