Congratulations to Rede Wayuri, the 2022 Rule of Law Award Winner!

With disinformation posing grave challenges to rule of law worldwide, we decided to focus our highest honor this year on extraordinary achievements in countering disinformation. After a global search we have announced this year’s WJP Rule of Law Award winner is Rede Wayuri, an innovative network of Indigenous communicators in the Brazilian Amazon.

In accepting the award Tuesday at the World Justice Forum, Rede Wayuri Co-Founder Marivelton Barroso, a leader of the Baré people, described the network’s local journalism as strengthening Indigenous communities and creating “a counternarrative to the fake news that promotes fear and contributes to the increase of violence and destruction in the Amazon.”
