Many supporters ask me whether our campaign has any concerns about November given the current political climate. They assume the answer is no. Please trust me, the answer is yes. Really. Let me tell you why.
Let’s start with the fact that out of state groups with undisclosed donors spent almost $6M in the last election to stop us from leading Colorado’s Attorney General’s office. This fall, they could easily spend far beyond that–and we have just five months to prepare. And to drive the point home–consider that in 2014, a year when the political environment was similarly challenging for Democrats, the Republican running for Attorney General won by 9.5%.
In short, we have a fight on our hands—to continue to protect all we value here in our state.
As your Attorney General, it’s my job to show up, listen, and get results for you. I am proud of the difference our team is making. Over the next five months, we have important work to do—to let people know about our record and how, together, we can continue to make things better for all Coloradans.
Consider, for example, our work in the San Luis Valley, where we are fighting to stop water from being diverted from that rural community to the Front Range. It’s important for the residents of the Valley, and all of Colorado, to know I am fighting for them. That’s why we need your help to share this video, which captures my commitment to protect the people of the San Luis Valley, with voters in the Valley and other rural communities.
As we raise money to share the stories of our work protecting Colorado, I can assure you that we will use every dollar wisely and fight hard to earn every vote. And I will run a positive, elevated, and people-powered campaign. Unlike some others, we are not taking money from corporations or corporate PACs.
I appreciate your support and whatever contribution you can make today to help us meet the challenges ahead.
