Let's Get Rid of Menthol for Good

In a historic move, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced its plan to remove all menthol cigarettes and flavored cigars from the marketplace.
All tobacco products are deadly, but menthol cigarettes are truly awful. The flavor makes it easier to start smoking, so getting rid of them will keep kids from starting and prompt millions more to quit, especially Black Americans.

To make this happen, the FDA needs to hear from you today. Sign our pre-written letter and tell them to get rid of menthol cigarettes and flavored cigars.

Why Does This Matter?

• Nearly 23 million people currently smoke menthol cigarettes.
• The use of menthol is highest among Black and Brown communities and the lesbian, gay and bisexual population, creating a dramatic health inequity.
• Menthol cigarettes make it easier to start smoking and harder to quit. Its flavor is one of the primary reasons kids start using tobacco products.
• Almost one million smokers are expected to quit smoking within 17 months of the end of the sale of menthol cigarettes.
