John,
The future of abortion is changing. As soon as next month, we could see the overturning of Roe and the constitutionally protected right to abortion. Already, clinic-based access is shrinking and unavailable to many in some regions. Now is the time to embrace self-managed abortion with pills as a vital option for abortion care.
We’ve been championing the safety and effectiveness of self-managed abortion with pills for years. Help us continue to uplift and educate.
Self-managed abortion at home is safe and effective. People may choose a self-managed abortion for many reasons from lack of clinic options to continuing COVID concerns, to privacy or comfort. Everyone should be able to have the abortion option they choose.
What can you do to support people in your life who have chosen to self-manage their abortion? Here are some tips from our outreach and culture manager Caitlin Blunnie, that you can find on our blog:
· Send an abortion care package of favorite snacks, moisturizer, or other soothing things
· Hop on a video call to offer comfort and support
· Do a watch party of a great TV show or movie to pass the time
· Have food delivered to them
Of course, you know the people in your life best, so the above ideas are just a jumping off point. The most important thing you can do for someone self-managing an abortion is affirm their decision and find the best way to offer your support.
Make sure to visit our website for more self-managed abortion information and donate if you like what you see.
Sincerely,
