The Queen will celebrate her Platinum Jubilee [ [link removed] ] this June, commemorating 70 years of service and becoming the first British Monarch to celebrate such an event. To celebrate, the nation gets an extended Bank Holiday weekend, running from Thursday 2 June until Sunday 5 June.
As part of the festivities all our libraries will be *closed* on Thursday 2 June and Friday 3 June. Libraries will have normal opening hours on Saturday and libraries are closed on Sunday.

Having a street party or just love the idea of wearing a crown? Come and join the fun over May half term to make celebratory crowns and bookmarks in our libaries.

70 Glorious Years
Market Square
An exhibition entitled "70 Glorious Years - The Queen in Nottingham" will be a large format open-air photographic exhibition staged in Old Market Square.
A collection of 22 images, celebrating the Queen’s visits to Nottingham over the last 70 years from the Coronation tour in 1955 through to her most recent visit for the Diamond Jubilee in 2012. The images also look at how Nottingham people have celebrated significant royal occasions over the years.

The Big Jubilee Read

To mark Her Majesty The Queen's Jubilee, The Reading Agency is launching *The Big Jubilee Read*. Celebrating 70 great books from across the Commonwealth - ten from each decade of the Queen's reign, it will bring people together from across all Commonwealth countries through a love of reading and shared stories that define our social and cultural heritage.
