Nowhere is this devotion to our Republic more apparent than in one of my best friends from 2nd Battalion 2nd Marines, Tamatea Teai. After more than twenty years of service, he retired from Marine Corps Special Forces Command. He was serving overseas when he was killed in action on Memorial Day, 2019.
His daughter, who I used to watch playing when I would spend time studying and training with Teai at Camp Lejeune, just graduated from Marine Corps Boot Camp. We honor their families multigenerational devotion and sacrifice for the Republic and for our freedom!
Protecting American freedom requires vigilance, and we honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Today, let us reflect on their service and in turn answer the call and shoulder the burden of service ourselves for our posterity's sake.
