Good afternoon,

With today being Memorial Day I wanted to take a quick moment to reflect on what this day means to me.

While Memorial Day is a great chance to get together with family and friends to enjoy a cookout and good company - it’s also critically important for us to remember the tremendous sacrifices that make this day possible.

As a veteran who has served overseas, this day has a deep significance to me - and it’s a reminder of the brave men and women who have given their lives to protect America’s democracy from attacks both domestic and international.

We owe an immeasurable debt to the soldiers and their families who gave everything so that we can continue to enjoy our freedoms - and we owe it to them to fight like hell to keep our democracy safe.

Today, and every day, we should work to honor these brave men and women.
