John, during Mental Health Awareness Month, it is more important than ever to recognize the psychological and emotional challenges that children must brave when living in areas of war.
Nowhere is this more apparent than in Al Hol, a displacement camp in Northeast Syria, which has become one of the most dangerous places in the world to be a child. Children growing up in the camp are witnessing unspeakable violence on a daily basis – fearing for their safety and for the safety of their loved ones. This reality is taking a serious toll on their mental health.
Children are having terrifying nightmares and struggling with insomnia. They are suffering loss of appetite and are having trouble concentrating in school.
These children – and all children – deserve our protection. They deserve all the resources, care and psychosocial support we can give them. They deserve the chance to enjoy their childhood and the hope of a brighter future.
Save the Children has been working to make hope a reality for children in Al Hol since 2016 – supporting their protection, running child-friendly spaces and providing psychosocial services. But none of these resources in Syria or around the world are possible without support from compassionate people like you, and we are counting on you now to help us reach our $175,000 end-of-month goal before time runs out.
Please, will you make a gift before Mental Health Awareness Month ends? Every dollar will help us continue providing critical support to children around the world who are facing war, disaster and other life-threatening hardships.
Thank you for everything you do to make a life-changing difference for the children who need it most.
